The 92nd Working Seminar of the Society of Steel Strips was held at the STATEK 1738 Guesthouse in Dušníky nad Vltavou from May 12 to 14, 2025. The seminar focused on “The Use of Emulsion Oils and Other Chemical Agents in the Production and Processing of Steel Strips.” The seminar was organized by Ing. Tomáš Kredvík from BKB Metal, a.s., and Mr. Jiří Karas from Quaker Houghton.
The President of the Society, Ing. Martin Špok, opened the plenary session of the seminar on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. in the conference hall of the guesthouse. At the beginning, he welcomed all present members and guests, including representatives of Povrly Cooper Industries, a.s., Železárny Velký Šenov s.r.o., and the newly admitted company PT Solution Worldwide spol. s r.o.
The session had a quorum with the attendance of 22 members of the Society. Apologies for absence due to work commitments were received from Ing. Tomáš Barták, Ing. Petr Eliáš, Ing. Ivo Chmelík, Ing. Tomáš Marten, Mr. Robert Mokroš, Ing. Radim Pachlopník, Ing. Martin Růžička, Ing. Petr Tomis, Ing. Jiří Váňa, and Ing. Pavel Vítoslavský.
The agenda of the plenary session included: attendance check, introduction of the seminar program, remembrance of the late members Ing. Emilián Klauda and Ing. Emerich Místecký, review of the previous 91st seminar, information about the activities of the executive board, a recap of the 2024 budget, a proposal for the 2025 budget, audit report of accounting, preparations for the 93rd autumn seminar, issuing of new membership cards, information on the upcoming international technical excursion, changes in the membership base, revision of the Society’s statutes, and discussion on various topics.
The technical session of the seminar took place in the afternoon and included the following presentations:
- Ing. Karel Šenk: Introduction of the company and product portfolio of Quaker Houghton
- Mr. Jiří Karas: Application of oils, lubricants, and other products in metallurgy
- Mr. Pavel Maier: Introduction of Metal Trade Comax, a.s., Velvary
- Mgr. Ivo Fukala: Chemical composition of rolling emulsions for cold rolling
The presentations were followed by expert questions and discussion.
In the evening, a social gathering was held in the guesthouse restaurant, during which the significant life anniversaries of the following members were celebrated: Ing. Marcel Bugaj (55 years), Ing. Tomáš Barták (60 years), Mr. Roman Jícha (55 years), Mr. Dalibor Kajfoš (55 years), Ing. Martin Růžička (55 years), and Ing. Vladimír Filip (70 years). The evening was, as usual, accompanied by informal conversation among members and guests.
On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, a technical excursion was held at Metal Trade Comax, a.s., Velvary. Participants were introduced to the company’s history, production program, and the process of coating and laminating steel sheets. They toured the laboratories, the coating line, and the service center for material slitting. After the excursion, a closing lunch was held in the company canteen, during which the President of the Society, Ing. Martin Špok, thanked the organizers for preparing the seminar and officially closed the event.
